Ahead of the first Vizag Comic Con, artists demonstrated how EVA foam and other materials can be turned into detailed armour and props.
Cosplay artists held a hands-on session at Pawffe, a pet-friendly café on Beach Road in Visakhapatnam, demonstrating how to make the Helm of Solitude from the video game Elden Ring. The Hindu reported that the workshop took place ahead of the first Vizag Comic Con and covered foam shaping, metallic finishes, prop weathering, VFX makeup and wig styling. Comic Con India lists Vizag Comic Con for October 10 and 11.
The session was led by Arindam Paul, grand champion of the Indian Championship of Cosplay 2025–26, and Kiran Raj, winner of the 2025 Hyderabad Comic Con Cosplay Competition. Raj told the newspaper that his Zinogre armour from Monster Hunter: Iceborne won the grand prize in Hyderabad. The build took about six months and used EVA foam of different thicknesses, a soldering iron, a rotary tool and an Arduino Nano for lighting.
Paul described a more complex Fatalis Beta+ armour build from Monster Hunter: Iceborne. He used EVA foam from 2 to 10 mm thick, foam clay, silicone rubber, epoxy resin, magnets, hinges, aluminium wire and LED boards. He advised newcomers to use protective equipment when cutting and shaping materials. Raj said a costume can even begin with cardboard.
Participants said the structured session helped them ask practical questions they often had nowhere else to raise. The first Vizag Comic Con is scheduled at Kalam Convention Centre on October 10–11, with comics, anime, gaming and cosplay on the organiser’s programme.
