Crimea rescuers carry ill man across rooftops in flooded Koreiz

Rescuers evacuated an elderly man across neighbouring rooftops in Koreiz on October 20 after flooding prevented an ambulance crew from reaching him, Crimea's emergencies ministry said.

The man became unwell overnight at his home on Rodnikovaya Street. Medics who arrived could not get through the water in the street and called rescuers for help.

Heavy rain had already prompted a municipal emergency declaration in Yalta. The ministry said conditions were particularly difficult in Koreiz, where water flowing down from the mountains flooded streets.

Rescuers used specialist equipment and a soft stretcher to carry the man out and hand him over to medics.
