Cuban president condemns Florida warrant for Raul Castro
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel rejected Florida's arrest warrant for Raul Castro as politically motivated, Interfax reported, citing EFE.
Diaz-Canel said the Florida authorities' actions were linked to the election campaign and had no legal or practical meaning. He said they deserved condemnation.
Judge Ariana Fajardo Orshan of Florida's 11th Judicial Circuit signed the warrant on October 16. It accuses Castro of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
The case concerns the destruction of two aircraft belonging to Hermanos en Rescate, or Brothers to the Rescue, in 1996. Four people were killed.
