EU Arctic strategy calls for deeper cooperation with NATO
The European Union plans to deepen cooperation with NATO in the Arctic, including on military mobility and security at sea and in space. The commitment appears in the new Arctic strategy published by the European Commission.
The document says discussions of shared regional interests will continue through structured dialogues and staff contacts with NATO. Strengthening resilience is also among the areas identified.
The Commission announced the new strategy on October 20. It provides for work with EU countries and Arctic partners to improve preparedness and protect critical infrastructure.
