Dagestan driver given three days' detention after gesture at traffic camera

Derbent District Court sentenced a Dagestan resident to three days of administrative detention for petty hooliganism after he made an obscene gesture at a traffic camera, regional traffic police said.

Police said the 37-year-old resident of Dakhadayevsky district was driving a Lada Priora with knowingly false registration plates. He made the gesture while passing beneath a traffic enforcement camera.

Staff at the automated enforcement centre identified the driver. Administrative reports were drawn up over the false plates and under Article 20.1 of Russia's Code of Administrative Offences, covering petty hooliganism.
