Orenburg court remands man accused of attempted police-car arson

The Leninsky District Court in Orenburg remanded a 24-year-old local man in custody until December 17 on a charge of attempted terrorism, the regional courts’ press service said.

Investigators allege that the man acted on instructions from an unidentified person in return for payment. They say he poured petrol over a police service vehicle and attempted to set it alight, but was detained at the scene.

Investigators had previously announced the charge and applied for pretrial detention. The court has now selected the preventive measure, and its order has not yet entered into legal force.
