Dagestan surgeons report removal of large breast tumour

Dagestan’s Republican Oncology Centre reported on October 14 that surgeons had removed a large breast tumour from a woman who travelled from a neighbouring region. She said it had grown for two years.
The centre described the tumour as larger than two footballs. Its announcement did not provide precise measurements in centimetres or the weight of the removed growth.
The patient told doctors she had postponed seeking medical help for a long time and that the growing tumour had substantially changed her life. The centre described the operation as complex and said the prolonged delay in obtaining care had put her at risk.
The announcement concerns the completed operation. It did not disclose the patient’s age, histology results, disease stage or subsequent treatment plan. The published information does not establish that she has been completely cured.
