Delhi police register 25 FIRs over voter-roll protests; Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi named

Delhi police have registered 25 FIRs connected with protests over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls since October 2. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are among those named in the cases, police sources told The Hindu.
The reported allegations include damage to public property, assaults and clashes involving police, obstruction of government work and breaches of restrictions on gatherings in the New Delhi district. The restrictions were imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
The Indian Express also reported a total of 25 cases and said at least three FIRs were linked to Wednesday’s protest and named Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The allegations remain under investigation and do not amount to a finding of guilt.
The demonstrations concern the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. The Hindu said they intensified after The Indian Express reported that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had objected to several decisions and orders related to the revision.
