Diana Shnaider draws Katie Boulter for Wuhan opener

The Wuhan WTA 1000 draw has set the opening opponents for Russia's players. Diana Shnaider will face Katie Boulter, while Ekaterina Alexandrova meets Leylah Fernandez.

Shnaider is seeded eleventh and starts in the first round. Liudmila Samsonova takes on Katerina Siniakova, and Anna Kalinskaya faces Diane Parry. The pairings are confirmed in the official WTA draw.

Third seed Mirra Andreeva receives a bye and will open against the winner of Dayana Yastremska versus Cristina Bucsa. The eight leading seeds skip the first round.

Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula are the top two seeds. Defending champion Coco Gauff is absent from the event. The main draw contains 56 players.

The outdoor hard-court tournament runs from October 12 to 18. Andreeva must first complete her campaign in Beijing, where she has reached the final.
