Digital theft losses in Kamchatka exceed 326 million roubles

Kamchatka residents lost more than 326 million roubles through theft involving digital resources from the start of 2026, regional prosecutors said. The number of recorded offences over nine months fell by 33.5% compared with the same period a year earlier.

Figures released on October 9 showed 552 such offences recorded from January through September. September losses were 14.8 million roubles. That is a monthly figure, whereas the total above 326 million covers the period from January.

Prosecutors identified 94 pensioners and seven minors among those affected. Those groups are part of the victim population rather than its full count.

The 33.5% decline refers to recorded thefts. The figures do not establish that financial losses fell by the same percentage.

Prosecutors urged caution when unknown people ask for confirmation codes or request transfers to questionable accounts.
