Erie officials confirm eight victims and gunman died in shooting

Police in Erie, Pennsylvania, confirmed on October 10 that a shooting at a home killed eight victims, including two children, and the suspected gunman.
Officers responded to the Perry Street property on October 9 after reports of gunfire and found two women dead outside. Further victims and the suspect were discovered inside the building.
At Saturday’s news conference, officials clarified that the total of nine deaths included the shooter. A city release carried by TalkErie said the victims also included a woman who was eight months pregnant.
Police Chief Rick Lorah said investigators believed all eight victims and the suspect had died before officers arrived. Sounds heard during the police response came from devices used by SWAT, rather than further gunfire.
The investigation remained active. The city said it was arranging support for affected families, neighbours and emergency responders. Officials asked residents to respect the privacy of the bereaved.
