Kerala minister promises support for Kochi assault survivor

Women and Child Development Minister Bindu Krishna visited the survivor in an alleged gang-rape case in Kochi on October 10 and promised assistance, The Hindu reported.
The visit took place at the Government Medical College in Kalamassery. Speaking afterwards, Krishna said the government would provide care and support and seek to bring the accused to justice.
She said counselling was already being provided to help the woman cope with psychological trauma. The minister described women's safety as a government priority and promised there would be no lapses in handling the case.
The alleged attack occurred at a city lodge on October 2. According to the report, the woman had been invited there after being told she had been selected for a manager's job. The account remains an allegation, and the minister's pledge of accountability does not constitute a court finding.
