Election commission reports death of local polling committee chair

The Central Election Commission reported on October 9 that Elena Eneevna Litvinenko, chair of polling committee 47 in Nova Mayachka, had died. The agency said she was killed in drone strikes on October 8.

The commission said drones attacked twice in Oleshky Municipal District in Kherson Region. The account of her death comes from its statement.

Litvinenko also worked as a senior nurse at the local comprehensive social services centre. The commission noted her work organising presidential, parliamentary, regional and local elections.

It expressed condolences to her family, friends and colleagues. The statement gave no details of other casualties in the episode or an investigation, and was not a daily casualty total.
