Eleven suspects charged over thefts and assaults on Yekaterinburg public transport

The Investigative Committee's Sverdlovsk regional directorate said on October 11 that it had charged 11 residents of Perm. Depending on their alleged roles, they face organised theft and violent hooliganism charges.

Investigators allege that the group of six men and five women travelled to Yekaterinburg to commit crimes, including thefts on public transport. They said the participants' roles had been assigned in advance.

The directorate said the suspects stole passengers' mobile phones worth more than 230,000 rubles on Tuesday. It also alleged two assaults that day, one on a passenger and the other on a conductor.

All 11 defendants have been detained. Investigators are seeking their remand in custody. They are gathering evidence and examining other possible offences and accomplices.
