France to reinforce police and change tactics for October 24 protests

French authorities plan to increase police numbers and improve their mobility at demonstrations on October 24. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced the plans in the National Assembly.
Lecornu acknowledged that policing at previous protests had been too static and insufficiently mobile. He said the interior minister had already sent instructions to prefectures.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said the changes would cover force numbers, response speed and police mobility.
