EU General Court registers VK challenge to sanctions
The EU General Court registered VK’s case against the Council of the European Union on Oct. 7. The company is challenging its inclusion on the sanctions list and seeks to overturn restrictions imposed in July.
The case is listed as T-664/26, VK v Council, and is marked pending in the public register. The entry does not yet disclose the company’s detailed requests or legal arguments. VK told RIA Novosti that it had brought the case to contest the Council’s decision.
The Council added VK to its sanctions list on July 13, 2026, under EU Regulation 2024/1485. The measures provide for the freezing of assets held by listed legal entities in the EU and prohibit making funds or economic resources available to them.
The Council said its listing reflected its assessment of VK’s role in supporting repression of civil society and restricting freedom of expression. That is the Council’s position, not a finding by the court. The case remained pending at the time of publication.
