Goldman Sachs executives in line for more than $500 million in stock awards

About 20 senior leaders could receive awards under a five-year program, with CEO David Solomon’s share potentially topping $100 million. The final amount is expected later this month.
About 20 Goldman Sachs executives are in line for special stock awards worth more than $500 million at current share prices. Bloomberg reported the figure, citing filings and people familiar with the matter. Final amounts are expected later in October. CEO David Solomon could receive more than $100 million.
The awards are tied to a value-creation program launched in October 2021. Payouts depend on Goldman Sachs shares and the bank’s performance against six peers over five years. Including reinvested dividends, Goldman’s stock return over that span was about 150%. The only named peer with a higher return was Bank of New York Mellon, at 174%.
Other potential recipients cited by Bloomberg include bank president John Waldron and business heads Ashok Varadhan, Dan Dees and Mark Nachmann. The program initially covered Solomon and Waldron, then expanded after shareholder questions.
In the first quarter of 2026, Goldman Sachs revenue rose 14% year over year to $17.23 billion, while net income increased 19% to a record $5.63 billion. Reuters separately confirmed the awards were tied to a long-term program disclosed in 2021.
