West Moscow high-pressure gas pipeline 90% complete

Construction of the nearly 3.6-kilometer line began in 2025. Crews used microtunneling beneath roads and utility infrastructure.

Construction of a high-pressure gas pipeline in western Moscow is 90% complete, the mayor’s office said, citing Mosgaz CEO Mikhail Vdovin. Work began in 2025 and the line will be nearly 3.6 kilometers long.

The route is being laid through built-up urban areas, including beneath roads and existing utility networks. Crews are using microtunneling in difficult sections to work underground without extensive street excavation. City officials said 10 trenchless crossings had been completed.

The project was designed around the needs of current and future consumers and includes spare capacity for additional connections. Its operating parameters are expected to be monitored remotely once the pipeline enters service.

The work is part of the capital’s program to modernize municipal infrastructure. Mosgaz earlier said construction of the 3.6-kilometer pipeline began in the first quarter of 2025.
