The Friedkin Group considers sale of controlling stake in Everton

The owners are exploring new investment options, including a potential sale of a controlling interest, and say they will consider only a suitable long-term steward for the club.

The Friedkin Group said it is exploring new investment options for Everton Football Club, including a possible sale of a controlling interest. The owners said they would consider interest only from parties they believe could responsibly lead the club into its next chapter.

The group acquired a 94.1% stake from Farhad Moshiri in December 2024. Its statement said Everton faced financial uncertainty and challenges on and off the pitch when the group took over. The priorities included stabilising the club and completing the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The company appointed Moelis & Company to advise on the process. The announcement did not name a prospective buyer, price or timetable for a possible transaction. The Friedkin Group said it would continue supporting the team and the communities served by the club.
