The Friedkin Group considers selling a controlling stake in Everton

Everton owner The Friedkin Group said on October 9 that it was exploring new investment options, including a potential sale of a controlling interest in the club.

The group, led by American billionaire Dan Friedkin, completed its takeover in December 2024, ending Farhad Moshiri’s time in charge. In a statement released by Everton, the owner said the foundations established since that purchase made it appropriate to consider the club’s next stage.

TFG described Everton’s position when it took over as financially uncertain, with challenges on and off the pitch. Its initial priorities were stability, investment and support for the club’s future, including helping to complete the stadium long awaited by supporters.

The group said it would consider approaches only from parties it believed could develop Everton and sustain the progress already made. A controlling stake sale is one option being explored. The statement did not announce a completed transaction.

TFG pledged to continue supporting the team and its work in local communities throughout the process. Both the group and Everton said they would make no further comments while that work continued.
