Five passengers taken for checks after bus collision in Russia’s Urals

Five Ford Transit passengers were taken to hospital for examination after a collision with a Yutong bus on the Yekaterinburg–Nizhny Tagil–Serov road. The accident occurred early on October 9 in Novolyalinsky district.
Regional traffic police said the crash occurred at about 4 a.m. at kilometre 275. Their preliminary account was that the Yutong driver failed to maintain a safe distance from the Ford Transit and collided with it.
The Yutong carried 12 passengers and the Ford Transit 11, putting the combined passenger total above 20. The regional Emergencies Ministry office said all were adults and no children were aboard.
Traffic police reported injuries among Ford Transit passengers. The condition of those sent for examination was being clarified when the initial statement was issued. Being taken for checks does not mean all five were admitted for inpatient treatment.
The circumstances are being established. The police account concerning following distance remains preliminary.
