Flight cancellation sends Torpedo to St Petersburg by bus

Torpedo will travel from Moscow to St Petersburg on their club bus after a flight cancellation, ahead of their October 10 First League fixture against Leningradets in Roshchino.

Communications director Dmitry Ganichev told TASS that players, coaches and administrative staff were already on board when the captain announced an indefinite delay because the Kover plan had been introduced. Passengers returned to the terminal after an hour and a half and were then told the flight had been cancelled.

The club decided to continue by bus. Players and coaches plan to stay overnight in St Petersburg before travelling to Roshchino in the morning. Saturday's round 13 match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Moscow time.

Temporary flight arrival and departure restrictions were introduced on October 9 at Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports in the Moscow area. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defences had repelled an attack by 15 drones.
