Houthi-aligned media report renewed strikes on Sanaa airport
Houthi-aligned media reported on October 11 that the Saudi-led coalition struck Sanaa airport and other territories held by the movement in Yemen.
The Times of India reported that local sources also claimed 7 air strikes in Harf Sufyan district in Amran governorate, north of the capital. Saudi Arabia had not commented on those assertions at the time of the Reuters report cited.
The Houthi-run health ministry said 6 civilians were wounded in a strike on a home in Bab Sha’ab, Sanaa. It said a woman and a child were among them. The original report did not independently confirm those details.
The escalation followed the October 10 attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Initial reports put the death toll at 12. An updated Reuters report raised it to 13 and said the Houthis had claimed responsibility for Saturday’s attack.
On Sunday, the movement also repeated its warning to airlines and travellers against using Saudi airports and airspace, except Mecca and Medina. The coalition had previously pledged a response to the passenger-terminal attack.
