FT says Trump opposed planned Israeli strikes on Iran in October

Israel prepared a new multi-day operation against Iran for October 10 but postponed it after Donald Trump objected, the Financial Times reported, citing sources.

The newspaper said Benjamin Netanyahu had sought to resume strikes earlier in the month. Potential targets included nuclear facilities and civilian infrastructure such as power stations.

FT's sources linked the postponement to the US president's opposition to renewed attacks before the midterm elections. Axios previously reported that Trump and Netanyahu had discussed a possible new operation.

The US midterm elections are scheduled for November 3. All seats in the House of Representatives and part of the Senate will be contested.
