Axios: Trump has not decided whether to resume strikes on Iran in coming weeks

U.S. President Donald Trump has not made a final decision on whether to resume strikes on Iran, Axios reported, citing sources. The outlet said military options remain available to the White House.

Axios reported, citing sources, that Trump has not decided whether to order strikes in the next three to four weeks. The Atlantic said the Pentagon had been asked to prepare possible options before the U.S. midterm elections. Axios said the directive gave no specific date and the president had made no final decision.

U.S. and Israeli sources cited by the outlets said attacks could resume before Israel’s parliamentary election, scheduled for October 27. An unnamed White House official told Axios that the president had several options. RIA Novosti, citing sources, also reported that U.S. Central Command’s plan includes large-scale strikes on Iranian energy facilities and infrastructure.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said earlier that Tehran saw no point in negotiations conducted under threats. RIA Novosti reported that the United States and Israel began strikes on Iran on February 28. The sides agreed to halt hostilities in June, but later exchanged strikes again. The conflict remains unresolved.
