García Plaza challenges refereeing of Güler incident against Sevilla
Sevilla coach Luis García Plaza said Arda Güler should have been sent off over an incident involving Peque during the match against Real Madrid.
At 22 minutes, Güler swung his arm at Peque, who had been holding him. Peque fell while clutching his face. Referee Mateo Busquets Ferrer did not penalise the incident, and the video officials did not recommend a review.
García Plaza argued that Sevilla had been denied the chance to play with a numerical advantage while the score was 0–0. He said Peque insisted at halftime that his opponent had hit him.
The coach acknowledged that Madrid deserved to win with equal numbers and that a dismissal would not necessarily have brought Sevilla victory. He also speculated that the decision might have been influenced by reluctance to let Madrid fall nine points behind Barcelona before the clásico.
Sevilla defender Kike Salas had also questioned the lack of video intervention at halftime, La Vanguardia reported.
