Man detained in Orenburg over alleged attempt to set fire to official vehicle

A 24-year-old man has been detained in Orenburg and accused of attempted terrorism after allegedly trying to set fire to a law enforcement vehicle, Russia's Investigative Committee said.

Investigators allege he went to a law enforcement office on a handler's instructions in return for payment. They say he poured previously purchased flammable liquid onto an official vehicle but was detained before setting it alight.

Investigators have asked a court to remand the accused man in custody.
