South African police question person over Makena twins’ killing

Police in South Africa’s Gauteng province have questioned a person in connection with the killing of 14-year-old twins Bonolo and Bohlale Makena in Mamelodi. No arrests have been made, SABC reported on October 11.

Police believe the person could help with the investigation. SABC did not identify the individual or say in what capacity they were questioned. The investigation is continuing.

The brothers were found at home with multiple stab wounds. Daily Sun, citing police spokeswoman Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, said officers were called to the scene on October 2. Their mother found them after returning from work.

The twins were buried at Garsfontein Cemetery on October 10 following a funeral service at the Ethiopian Catholic Church. The motive remained unknown, SABC reported before the funeral.
