Glucksmann covered in flour after winning French primary
Raphaël Glucksmann was covered in flour outside a Paris restaurant on October 11 after celebrating his victory in the centre-left presidential primary, Le Parisien reported.
The European Parliament member was leaving La Cantine de Belleville in the city’s 20th arrondissement to get into a taxi when an unidentified person threw flour at him and ran away. The report did not announce an arrest.
Glucksmann condemned physical aggression and said violence should have no place in politics. The incident came hours after the announcement of a primary result that gave him 66.13% of the vote.
The ballot selected a candidate for the Socialists and allied centre-left parties ahead of France’s presidential election in spring 2027. More than 120,000 people voted, with Glucksmann finishing ahead of Olivier Faure and Ségolène Royal. He still needs signatures from 500 elected officials to register formally for the election.
