Bilalov finishes fourth at World Judo Championships in Baku

Russian judoka Niyaz Bilalov missed the podium in the under-100 kg category at the World Championships in Baku. The International Judo Federation listed him fourth overall and Arman Adamian eighth.
After defeating Ukraine's Anton Savytskiy in a repechage bout, Bilalov remained in contention for bronze. An earlier report said he would face compatriot Arman Adamian, who had lost his semifinal to Japan's Dota Arai.
Results later published by the IJF placed Bilalov fourth and Adamian eighth. The Russian athletes therefore did not win a medal in this weight category, despite an earlier report that a medal had been secured.
The World Championships are being held in Baku and conclude on October 10. Adamian was world champion in 2023 and won bronze in 2025. Bilalov previously won the 2024 BRICS Games.
