Tarar accuses KP government of neglecting security and public services

Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar criticised the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on October 10, accusing it of failing to develop counterterrorism infrastructure. He spoke at a press conference in Islamabad.
Tarar said the province had received Rs700 billion through the National Finance Commission to combat terrorism. He alleged that it had not upgraded the Counter Terrorism Department, established forensic laboratories or installed Safe City cameras in merged districts and at district entry and exit points.
The minister also accused PTI of directing resources towards protests rather than security. He contrasted what he described as brief discussions of terrorism with lengthy meetings to organise street action.
Tarar linked the party’s conduct to its campaign to secure former prime minister Imran Khan’s release from prison. He alleged that residents were being denied adequate healthcare, educational opportunities and infrastructure development, leaving them in poverty.
He further accused PTI of facilitating the return of militants after security operations and characterised it as an ally of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. Those were the minister’s allegations, rather than independently established findings. His remarks marked another confrontation between the federal government and the provincial leadership.
