Manturov and Abramova discuss industrial support and road work in Udmurtia

Russia's First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Udmurtia's acting head Olga Abramova discussed support for regional industry and reconstruction of the Izhevsk–Votkinsk road, the regional leadership's press office said.

The meeting covered cooperation between regional and federal industrial development funds. Their joint loans help factories launch projects and modernise production, according to the press office. The officials also discussed development of the LADA Izhevsk plant.

The press office said Udmurtia ranked second in the Volga Federal District for its industrial production index and first in manufacturing. Manufacturing accounted for 70.8% of total production. The RIA Novosti report does not specify the comparison period.

Abramova said the road reconstruction project had been prepared, a contractor selected and preliminary work begun. Three sections are planned: the exit from Izhevsk, the stretch between Bolgury and Kukui, and the entrance to Votkinsk.

A two-level interchange is planned near the airport bypass at the Izhevsk end. Authorities intend to begin reconstruction on the first two sections this year. The road is to be widened to four lanes. The announcement does not describe the reconstruction as completed.
