Gritsyuk records assist as New Jersey beats Vancouver 4-1 in Newark

New Jersey defeated Vancouver 4-1 in an NHL regular-season game in Newark, with Russian forward Arseny Gritsyuk contributing an assist.

Linus Karlsson gave the Canucks the lead in the sixth minute. Nico Hischier equalised in the ninth, before Jesper Boqvist put the Devils ahead in the 17th.

New Jersey extended its advantage during the second period. Jesper Bratt scored in the 25th minute and Hischier added his second goal in the 40th. Neither team scored in the final period, leaving the period scores at 2-1, 2-0 and 0-0.

The Devils have four points from four games and sit seventh in the Metropolitan Division. Vancouver also has four points, from six games, and is sixth in the Pacific Division.

New Jersey next hosts Ottawa, overnight into October 13 Moscow time. Vancouver visits the New York Rangers overnight into October 12.
