Stankoven records first NHL hat trick as Carolina beats Vancouver 7-2

The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vancouver Canucks 7-2 in a regular-season game. Logan Stankoven scored three goals and Andrei Svechnikov added two.

The game was played at Lenovo Center in Raleigh on October 8. Stankoven recorded the first hat trick of his NHL career, scoring at even strength, shorthanded and on the power play. The NHL said he became the fourth player in franchise history to score in all three situations in one game.

Svechnikov scored twice in the first period, while K'Andre Miller and Mark Jankowski also scored for Carolina. Pyotr Kochetkov made 18 saves. Jake DeBrusk scored both Vancouver goals.

The win was Carolina's third in a row. The NHL recap also credited Sean Walker with four assists. Vancouver began a six-game road trip.
