India Post reports wider digital services and pension reach in Telangana

India Post says it serves nearly 2 million Cheyutha pension beneficiaries in Telangana each month. At a World Post Day briefing, the state postal chief also outlined the network’s scale and digital and financial services.
Telangana Circle Chief Postmaster General D.S.V.R. Murthy said the state has 36 Head Post Offices, 759 Sub Post Offices and 5,424 Branch Post Offices. The network is supported by 6,514 Department of Posts employees and 10,623 Gramin Dak Sevaks. National Postal Week runs from October 9 to 15 under the theme “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities.”
Murthy said India Post had introduced the APT 2.0 platform and DIGIPIN, a digital addressing system developed with IIT Hyderabad and NRSC-ISRO. The Door Step Service app provides real-time tracking. The 24-hour and 48-hour Speed Post options launched in Hyderabad have handled more than 133,000 items.
In the 2025–26 financial year, Telangana’s 14 Passport Seva Kendras recorded more than 166,000 passport transactions, while 263 Aadhaar centres recorded 475,000 transactions. The circle also maintains 10.7 million Post Office Savings Bank accounts and aims to bring one-quarter of the rural population into the financial inclusion network by 2026–27.
Figures presented at the briefing show that Telangana Circle sold 71,233 Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance policies in 2025–26 and earned revenue of 596.71 crore rupees.
