
Two-time Olympic champion Andrea Cassarà has been named general manager of Russia’s men’s and women’s teams. The 42-year-old has also won seven world and 10 European titles.
The Russian Fencing Federation announced the appointment of Andrea Cassarà, 42, to work with the national men’s and women’s foil teams.
Cassarà won Olympic team gold with Italy in 2004 and 2012. He also took bronze in the individual event at the Athens Games in 2004.
The federation wished him success in his work for Russian fencing. Italy’s ANSA news agency also reported his appointment to lead Russia’s foil teams.
