Kansk resident sentenced to 17 years and six months for 2018 murder
The Krasnoyarsk Regional Court has sentenced a Kansk resident to 17 years and six months in a special-regime penal colony for murder with particular cruelty, regional prosecutors reported on October 12.
The sentence also includes one year and six months of restrictions on his freedom. The court awarded two million rubles in compensation for moral harm to the victim’s daughter, according to the prosecution.
The case concerns the killing of an employee of a Kansk vehicle depot in October 2018. Investigators said an argument was followed by an assault, after which the victim was taken to the Lobanova channel of the Kan River and killed.
The defendant denied guilt during the trial, prosecutors said. The regional Investigative Committee separately reported the conviction and the prison term. The new reports concern the outcome of the court case, rather than a killing that occurred this year.
