Kazakhstan to phase in electronic entry authorisations from November

Kazakhstan will begin introducing electronic entry authorisations on November 1, 2026, with the requirement becoming mandatory on July 1, 2027. RBC and Interfax reported the phased timetable on October 14, citing a government resolution.
Before July 1, the absence of an authorisation will not be grounds for denying entry. During the transition, foreign visitors will be informed about the need to obtain it.
The first stage covers Aktau international airport and four road checkpoints: Urlyutobe on the Russian border, Aukhatty, Atameken and Nurly Zhol. The airports in Astana and Almaty will join the system on January 1, 2027.
The remaining checkpoints will be included from March 1, 2027. Government Resolution No. 890 was adopted on October 10. The dates for introducing the system are distinct from the date on which authorisation becomes compulsory.
