Khabarovsk police detain man after knife attack on teenager

Khabarovsk police said on October 10 that they had detained a man suspected of attacking a 16-year-old with a knife. The teenager received medical care and faces no threat to his life or health, according to police.
Preliminary information from the city police department indicates that the teenager was outside a cafe with a friend. An unfamiliar man approached them, made threats, then produced a knife and wounded one of the young people.
Officers attended after receiving a report of the attack. They searched the surrounding area, detained the suspected attacker and took him to a police station for further inquiries.
The teenager was taken to a medical facility. Police said he received the necessary care. Local news outlets also reported the incident.
Authorities are establishing the circumstances. The initial police statement does not disclose the detained man’s identity or establish a motive. His actions and the circumstances of the encounter remain under investigation.
