Yaroslavl police open case after alleged knife threat against teenager on bus

Yaroslavl regional police identified a passenger suspected of threatening a 15-year-old boy with a knife on a bus. A criminal case over an alleged threat to kill was opened, the regional interior ministry said on October 8.

According to the preliminary police account, the dispute took place between the Ulitsa Chekhova and Ploshchad Karla Marksa stops. An adult passenger argued with the teenager, then produced a knife and displayed it to the boy.

RIA Novosti reported the incident. Local outlet YarCube, also citing regional police, said witnesses informed officers about the confrontation on public transport. Police subsequently identified the alleged participant.

The suspect was placed under a restriction requiring him not to leave, the ministry said. The statement describes a preliminary account of the dispute. Opening a criminal case does not establish the suspect's guilt in court. The teenager's name was not disclosed in the public account.
