Khimki court sentences five in Kalashnikov parts-supply case

Khimki City Court imposed sentences ranging from a suspended term to nine years in prison on five defendants in a case concerning parts supplied to Kalashnikov, the court's press office reported on October 16.
Alexei Morokhov received nine years, Yuri Chernyshev eight years, and Olga Firsova and Alexei Rubtsov seven and a half years each. Ledenev received the same seven-and-a-half-year term suspended.
Morokhov headed Ivanovskiye Kovshi and was a founder of Intertekhnika. Ledenev led Intertekhnika, while Chernyshev was its former director. Ledenev is also known as a winner of Dancing with the Stars.
Investigators alleged that Intertekhnika supplied Chinese-made unfinished parts that failed to meet quality requirements in 2023. They were intended for modernisation of the AK-12 rifle.
Depending on their roles, defendants faced charges of fraud, smuggling firearms or major components, and failure to pay wages. The case was transferred from Ivanovo to Khimki because imports were processed through the Sheremetyevo Customs electronic declaration centre there.
