Kim Yo Jong says North Korea's border loudspeakers will be ready within days

North Korea will place loudspeakers directed at South Korea on standby within days, Kim Yo Jong, the sister of leader Kim Jong Un, said in a statement carried by KCNA.
Kim said new response measures would also be on full alert along the entire border. She warned that South Korean authorities should be prepared for various scenarios if they escalated tensions.
She argued that fortifying the border would reduce the risk of a military clash. Kim had previously threatened countermeasures if Seoul endangered North Korea's security or its troops working along the frontier.
Tensions rose after mine explosions in the demilitarized zone injured three South Korean soldiers in September this year. Seoul blamed Pyongyang. Kim rejected the accusation and warned of retaliation if North Korean troops building border barriers came under fire.
South Korea halted propaganda broadcasts through border loudspeakers in June 2025. North Korea also stopped its noise broadcasts at that time, a move subsequently confirmed by South Korean military officials.
