KOS-Sintez loses to Savona in Euro Cup water polo qualifying

Kazan’s KOS-Sintez lost 11:17 to Italy’s Savona on October 10 in Group B of the men’s water polo Euro Cup qualifying round in Athens.
Savona won the first three periods 5:2, 4:3 and 5:1, building an eight-goal advantage. KOS-Sintez won the final period 5:3, reducing the eventual margin to six goals.
According to the schedule reported by RIA Novosti, Kazan’s final qualifying fixture against Germany’s Duisburg was set for the evening of the same Saturday. The qualifying round ends on October 11.
KOS-Sintez’s participation accompanies the return of Russian teams to international competition with their national flag and anthem. RIA Novosti described water polo as the first team sport to resume participation on those terms. In May, European Aquatics said the full return of Russian and Belarusian athletes could occur no earlier than September 1, 2026.
