Lee Jae Myung approval holds at 37% in Gallup Korea poll

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung's job approval remained at 37% in a Gallup Korea survey, while disapproval fell from 56% to 51% compared with the previous poll.

The survey covered 1,000 people aged 18 or older from Oct. 6 to 8. The previous poll was conducted three weeks earlier. The stated margin of error was 3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.

Among those approving of Lee, 24% cited foreign affairs and 14% cited economic and livelihood issues. Among those disapproving, 18% pointed to housing policy and 15% to defence, security and North Korea policy. Those percentages apply to the respective respondent groups.

Support for the ruling Democratic Party fell five percentage points to 35%, its lowest level since Lee took office in June 2025.

The main opposition People Power Party lost one percentage point, reaching 26%. Lower presidential disapproval therefore coincided with declining support for both major parties.
