Perth court releases crash footage in case against Jack Dunn

A Perth court has released dashcam footage in the case against Jack Dunn, who faces charges following a head-on collision in Wanneroo. The Sydney Morning Herald and The West Australian reported the newly released footage on October 9.
According to material presented in court, a Ford Everest travelled along Franklin Road with lights and sirens activated. Police allege the equipment was unauthorised. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the vehicle reached 100 kilometres an hour in a 70-kilometre-an-hour zone.
The reports describe the driver crossing double-white lines and entering the opposing traffic lane. After a manoeuvre near a Mazda, the vehicle collided with a Mercedes. The crash occurred on Sunday, October 4, while the footage’s release provides a new development in coverage of the case.
Dunn, a director of private service Rescue Recovery 1, remains in custody. He faces aggravated dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, four counts of aggravated dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The final charge concerns a police allegation that he removed the dashcam’s memory card after the crash. His lawyer said he was accustomed to securing evidence as an emergency responder. Magistrate Andrew Maughan refused bail at Tuesday’s hearing. That custody decision is not a verdict on the charges.
