Likhachev says Rosatom awaits Hungary’s Paks II audit

Rosatom is waiting for Hungary’s new government to complete its audit of the Paks II nuclear power project, chief executive Alexey Likhachev said on October 16.
Speaking to journalists at Russian Energy Week in Moscow, Likhachev said Hungarian officials were still reporting that the review was unfinished. He described it as a substantial project audit by the customer.
Paks is Hungary’s only operating nuclear power station. Its four VVER-440 units produce nearly half the country’s electricity, according to RIA Novosti’s report.
The Rosatom expansion project envisages two VVER-1200 units. The first concrete pour for Unit 5 began on February 5, 2026, construction participant Titan-2 reported.
