Seven-month prison term imposed over Krasnogorsk boat capsize

Krasnogorsk City Court sentenced one defendant in a motorboat capsize case to seven months in a general-regime penal colony and fined the other 300,000 roubles, transport prosecutors reported on October 16.
The motorboat capsized on the Moskva River near Krasnogorsk on the evening of May 3. Ten people, including seven children, were aboard despite capacity for four. The Moscow regional courts' channel said the water temperature was 9.6°C.
The court found that the boat's lessor and an employee had breached its passenger-capacity limit and failed to provide life jackets for everyone, the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office said.
The case concerned the provision of services that did not meet safety requirements.
