Linnemann urges Europe to prepare healthcare for war-related crises
German Health Minister Carsten Linnemann has urged European countries to strengthen their healthcare systems' preparedness for war-related crises.
RIA Novosti reported the minister's World Health Summit speech in Berlin on October 12. He said European countries should learn from events in Ukraine and prepare both medical infrastructure and the population for potential threats.
Linnemann also referred to a German healthcare preparedness law being developed for the most severe crisis scenarios. RIA Novosti's report does not say that the legislation has been adopted or has entered into force.
According to Rappourter, preparation includes more independent supply chains, stronger staffing, protection of digital systems and cross-border cooperation. Germany's Health Ministry confirmed that his speech addressed health security and said he also met Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Liashko.
