Lisbon Metro warns of service suspension during strike

Lisbon Metro warned of suspended services and station closures on October 14 because of a strike. The operator plans to resume services at 06:30 local time on October 15.
The action was called by unions representing the company’s employees. Portuguese television linked it to staff shortages, excessive overtime and a lack of concrete management responses to workers’ concerns. These are the unions’ stated grievances.
Public broadcaster RTP reported that the strike runs from 05:00 on October 14 to 05:00 on October 15. The end of the industrial action and the operator’s planned resumption of passenger services are scheduled for different times.
The Metro’s official notice forecasts a suspension of transport services and station closures. Passengers should therefore not rely on normal schedules during the strike day. The reopening time is the operator’s plan, rather than confirmation that services have already resumed.
