Lithuanian PM says Ukrainian drone that entered country carried explosives
Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius said on October 19 that the drone which violated the country's airspace on Sunday was Ukrainian in origin and carried explosives.
Sinkevicius said Ukraine had reported losing contact with one of its drones. He considered it likely that this was the aircraft whose wreckage was found in Lithuania.
The prime minister also said the drone had crossed the border from Poland and that Lithuanian radar had recorded the crossing. Polish defence ministry spokesman Janusz Sejmej had earlier said Polish radar data did not confirm that route.
On Sunday, Lithuanian Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas reported that an unidentified object had violated the country's airspace before disappearing from radar in the north. Drone debris was subsequently found.
Kaunas asked his Polish counterpart to assist with a joint investigation into the incident.
